Cinque Terre is a stunning coastal region located on the northwest coast of Italy, in the Liguria region. Its name means "Five Lands" in Italian, referring to the five charming villages that make up the region: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Cinque Terre villages are famous for their unspoiled natural beauty, panoramic sea views and colorful architecture. Each has its own unique charm and character, but all share a charming ambiance and an authentic feel for seaside living. One of the best ways to explore the Cinque Terre is to take a walk along the coastal paths that connect the villages. The most famous trail is the Sentiero Azzurro, or Blue Trail, which runs along the coast and offers spectacular views of the sea and villages. It offers delicious cuisine, with an emphasis on fresh seafood, Genoese pesto (a local specialty) and wines from the Liguria region.
