Fan-favorite The Walking Dead characters include Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun), Michonne (Danai Gurira), and Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson). The Rick Grimes of the series, on the other hand, differs from the character in the comics that inspired the series. It's just that in the comic book Rick loses one of his hands relatively early while in the television production that didn't happen. The reason was that author Robert Kirkman sought to keep actor Andrew Lincoln's hand to facilitate the necessary digital retouching, with it not being so costly to erase the actor's hand at all times.
