Vikings is a historical drama television series written and created by Michael Hirst for the History network. Filmed in Ireland, the series premiered on March 3, 2013 in Canada and ended on December 30, 2020 with streaming distribution on Prime Video. Vikings is inspired by the Viking sagas Ragnar Lodbrok, one of the best known legendary Norse heroes and called the scourge of England and France. Using longships (classic Viking ships), they explored the seas exploring and looting the peoples. Ragnar becomes a Scandinavian King, supported by his family and fellow warriors: his brother Rollo, his son Bjorn Ironflank, and their wives, squire Lagertha and Princess Aslaug. The fight scenes in the show are choreographed and performed by well-trained actors wielding real weapons. Before filming, the actors spend approximately 3 weeks learning the choreography.
