Early in childhood, at the age of 8, Beyoncé's talent was discovered by her dance teacher. Her father, Matthew Knowles, knew of her gift and encouraged her by showing her videos of established artists such as Madonna, Michael Jackson and Tina Turner. He was also her manager until 2011. In 1997 the singer became world famous as the lead singer of Destiny's Child. The following year, the victory was even greater when he pursued a solo career.
