The Brownsberg Natural Park, in Suriname, occupies 12,000 hectares near Paramaribo, with emphasis on Mount Brownsberg. Previously explored by gold prospectors, it became a nature reserve in 1969. Managed by STINASU, the park is rich in biodiversity, housing 1,450 species of plants and 350 species of birds. Its geological history contributes to the presence of gold deposits. The area receives around 20,000 visitors annually, offering trails to waterfalls and other natural attractions, with accommodation close to the mountain.
