Mathematics EN 9th grade: Angles in a Circle
Central Angle
Vertex at the center of the circle.
Measures the same as the corresponding arc.
📌 Relationship:
\( \text{central angle} = \text{corresponding arc} \)
📌 Example:
If the arc measures \( 80^\circ \), then the central angle also measures \( 80^\circ \).
Inscribed Angle
Vertex on the circle.
Formed by two chords.
📌 Property:
\( \text{inscribed angle} = \frac{1}{2} \times \text{central angle} \)
📌 Example:
If the central angle measures \( 100^\circ \), So:
\( \text{inscribed angle} = \frac{100}{2} = 50^\circ \)
Relationship between angles, chords and arcs
Inscribed angles that subtend the same arc are equal.
Equal arcs correspond to equal angles.
