Shrek is an animated film by DreamWorks Animation, released in 2001, inspired by the work of William Steig's Shrek. The film follows the story of Shrek (Mike Myers), a lonely ogre who lives in a distant swamp. His life is cut short when he is confronted by three blind mice, a big bad wolf, and three pigs that don't have a home. All of them were driven from their homes by Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow). To regain the tranquility of before, Shrek and his friend Donkey (Eddie Murphy) embark on a journey to rescue the beautiful princess (Cameron Diaz), who is trapped in a castle protected by a dragon. However, when they finally succeed in rescuing the princess, they discover that her troubles are just beginning.
