Even before its debut

Even before its debut, Segundo Sol faced protests on social networks due to the lack of black actors in the telenovela, set in Bahia. Public criticism led Globo to promote changes and position itself on the subject. In addition, the Public Ministry filed a lawsuit demanding that the broadcaster include more black actors in the plot. However, only two black actors stand out in depth roles in “Segundo Sol”: Roberval (Frabrício Boliveira) and Doralice (Roberta Rodrigues). It originally started broadcasts from May 14 to November 9, 2018 in 155 chapters. It featured the performances of Giovanna Antonelli, Emilio Dantas, Deborah Secco, Adriana Esteves, Fabrício Boliveira, Fabiula Nascimento, Vladimir Brichta and Luisa Arraes in the lead roles and artistic and general direction by Dennis Carvalho and general direction by Maria de Médicis.
