December 21st Yule
December 21st Yule day is an ancient Celtic and Germanic celebration of the winter solstice, symbolizing renewal, hope and connection with nature. The Celts lit bonfires and celebrated with dances and feasts to attract the return of the sun. Symbols such as the cypress, holly, mistletoe and trees were used to represent renewal, protection and fertility. Over time, many of these traditions were integrated into Christian Christmas. Many of today's Christmas customs, such as the Yule log and singing, have roots in these ancient traditions. Still preserved by new pagan religious movements, the festival honors a heritage that unites different peoples around natural cycles and spirituality.
