December 24th Day of Saint Charbel Makhlouf
December 24th Day of Saint Charbel Makhlouf, born on May 8, 1828, was a Lebanese Maronite monk who felt a strong religious vocation since childhood. At age 23, he left his family and entered the Monastery of Our Lady in Mayfouq, where he adopted the name Charbel. He was ordained a priest in 1859 and later lived as a hermit in Annaya, devoting himself to prayer and work in the fields. Charbel died on December 24, 1898, during mass, after suffering paralysis, but continued to pray until the end. Beatified in 1977 by Pope Paul VI, his incorrupt body is associated with many miracles. Saint Charbel's Day is celebrated on December 24, celebrating his life of devotion.
