December 18th day of Saint Rufus and Zozim
December 18th day of Saint Rufus and Zozim, venerated saints, especially in the Catholic Church, recognized as martyrs and defenders of the faith. Saint Zozimus, along with Saint Rufus, was one of the founders of the Church of Philippi, in Macedonia, where the majority of the Christian community was made up of former pagans. Both suffered martyrdom between 107 and 118, being condemned to be devoured by wild beasts in the Roman circus. The city of Philippi, where they preached, was an important center for the spread of Christianity in Europe, and their legacy remains as an example of faith and solidarity. Catholic communities celebrate with masses, prayers and reflections on their lives, seeking inspiration in their faith and perseverance.
