She is the daughter of Rio Grande do Sul bodyboarder Tanira Guimarães and surfer Doug Weston-Webb, an Englishman raised in the United States. At first, Tatiana's mother wanted her to follow in her footsteps in bodyboarding, but the influence of her brother Tony, three years her senior, pushed her towards surfing. At age 8, she got her first board and started catching waves in Hawaii. Five years later, she became national champion in the United States for the first time.
