When he was 13, he returned to Brazil and moved to Brasilia. Around the age of 15 or 16, he was diagnosed with a rare bone disease known as epiphysiolysis, which left him between bed and wheelchair for extended periods of time. So he adopted the stage name "Russo" in honor of three great figures in history: Bertrand Russell, the English philosopher; Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the Swiss philosopher, writer and composer; and Henri Rousseau, the French artist.
