Nirvana, formed in 1987 by Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic, was an influential rock band associated with the Seattle grunge movement of the 1990s. With Dave Grohl as drummer from 1990 onwards, the band achieved notable success with the album "Nevermind". (1991), especially with the hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Their third album, "In Utero" (1993), defied expectations and remained successful, but Nirvana's brief life ended with Cobain's death in 1994.
