The Weimaraner is recognized by its short, silvery coat, which can vary in shades of gray. They have amber or blue-gray colored eyes, which give their face a distinct expression. These dogs are known for their energy and need for physical activity. They make excellent companions for active people who want a partner for running, hiking or outdoor sports. Originally bred as hunting dogs in Germany, Weimaraners were used to hunt large prey such as deer and wild boar. It has a short, easy-care coat that only requires occasional brushing to remove loose hair and dirt. They are generally a healthy breed but can be prone to some health conditions such as hip dysplasia, eye problems, and skin allergies.
