World Bone Marrow Donor
World Bone Marrow Donor Day, established by the WMDA, is celebrated on September 17 to thank and recognize volunteer donors. Since the first bone marrow transplant in the 1950s, more than a million patients have been treated. This date highlights the importance of global cooperation in stem cell transplantation and promotes awareness about blood and bone marrow donation. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is vital for treating blood diseases by replacing diseased cells with healthy ones.
