Abraham: A Journey of Faith
Abraham does not begin as a hero. He is presented as an ordinary man, living a stable life, until he hears a calling that changes his story. His journey is not born from certainty, but from the decision to trust something he could not yet see.
Why did God choose Abraham?
The Bible does not describe great achievements before the calling. Abraham is chosen for his willingness to obey. When called, he leaves without knowing exactly where he is going, sustained only by faith.
Ur of the Chaldeans: what kind of city was it?
Ur was a wealthy and well-organized city in Mesopotamia. Leaving Ur meant giving up comfort and security to live as a foreigner in unknown lands.
The covenant and the promise
God promises land, descendants, and blessing, even when Abraham was already old and without children. The covenant marks a relationship based on faith, not on human achievements.
The near sacrifice of Isaac
This is the most dramatic moment of the story. Abraham is taken to the limit of trust, but God intervenes, showing that faith is surrender, not loss.
Did Abraham really exist?
Although there is no direct evidence, the customs and places mentioned correspond to the historical period. Abraham remains a symbol of a faith that crosses generations.
