Memorial of the Expeditionaries
Inaugurated on September 21, 1991, the Memorial dos Expedicionários is one of the most significant historical sites in Volta Redonda. Built in honor of Brazilian veterans who fought in World War II, the space was designed as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB), who served on the battlefields of Italy between 1944 and 1945.
The inauguration ceremony was marked by great emotion and featured a special performance by the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, which gave even more symbolic weight to the moment. Located in a prominent area of the city, the memorial is a landmark of respect for national history and the memory of veterans, some of whom were native to the region or had their trajectories intertwined with the city of steel.
With a structure that includes commemorative plaques, military symbols and a space for civic ceremonies, the memorial also serves as a point of reflection and historical learning, especially for students and visitors interested in Brazil's participation in World War II. When visiting the site, it is possible to learn a little more about the impact of this global chapter on the lives of many Brazilians, preserving the legacy of courage of the expeditionaries.
