Prepositional Phrases
Prepositional Phrases are expressions formed by a preposition + object (usually a noun or pronoun) that function as adverbs or adjectives in the sentence, adding information about time, place, cause, manner and more.
- Basic structure:
Preposition + noun/pronoun
Example: in the morning, at home, under pressure
- Time:
She always works in the evening.
(She always works at night.)
- Place:
The keys are on the table.
(The keys are on the table.)
- Manner or condition:
He spoke with confidence.
(He spoke with confidence.)
Cause or reason:
She left because of the rain.
(She left because of the rain.)
