a municipality that combines tradition, nature and leisure
The traditional cuisine of Vila Nova de Paiva, which is still little known, reveals authentic flavours such as wild boar, rabbit with carqueja and typical Easter sweets, accompanied by local cornbread and products such as Pendilhe honey and Touro goat cheese. But the municipality goes beyond taste: the Parque Arbutus do Demo, an emblematic project installed in the former Queiriga Forest Nursery, is an example of ecological and cultural regeneration, bringing together more than a thousand botanical species. The park includes leisure areas, environmental education and the promotion of local products.
The Paiva River and its tributaries support several river beaches such as Fráguas, Touro and Vila Cova à Coelheira – true natural refuges with clear waters. The exuberant nature is also the setting for hunting and sport fishing, with active clubs in the region. For adrenaline lovers, Diver-Karting brings speed to the rural landscape. Culture is celebrated at the Jewish Memorial Center and the Alto Paiva Archaeological Museum, modern spaces that value the past with an eye to the future. A municipality where history, leisure and identity intersect at every step.
