The Importance of Rights
March 15 is Consumer's Day and aims to raise awareness among the population about their rights and duties in consumer relations. The date was established in 1983, inspired by a speech by the then President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, made on March 15, 1962, in which he highlighted the importance of protecting and respecting consumers.
The celebration seeks to reinforce the need for fair practices in the market, promoting transparency and quality in products and services, in addition to encouraging consumers to demand their rights. In Brazil, the Consumer Protection Code, created in 1990, is one of the main legal milestones in this area.
With the advancement of digital commerce, Consumer's Day has gained even more relevance, warning about scams, misleading advertising and the need for efficient refund policies. In addition, the date has also become an opportunity for promotions and discounts at large retailers, moving the market and benefiting consumers.
