The Princess Who Turns Wishes into Magic

Asha, the protagonist of the film Wish: The Power of Wishes (2023), is the latest addition to the cast of Disney princesses. At 17 years old, she is described as a perceptive leader in the making, able to perceive the darkness that others do not.
The film is set in the fictional Kingdom of Roses, a coastal island at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, known for its promise to grant its inhabitants' wishes.
The plot reveals the origin of the Wishing Star, a magical entity that has appeared in films such as Pinocchio and The Princess and the Frog.
Asha is the daughter of Tomás, a philosopher, and Sakina, a seamstress. From a young age, she heard her father talk about the stars and how they were connected to all living things.
Development of Wish began in 2018, when Jennifer Lee, then Disney's chief creative officer, suggested creating a film to honor the studio's centennial. The idea was to create a story that would bring together Walt Disney’s legacy with contemporary storytelling needs.
The release of Wish in theaters in January 2024 marked Disney’s centennial, celebrating a century of animation and innovation. Asha, with her courage and determination, represents a new generation of princesses who inspire and delight audiences of all ages.
