March 6 is Sculptor's Day
March 6 is Sculptor's Day in Argentina and other countries, in honor of the birth of Michelangelo Buonarroti, one of the most renowned artists of the Italian Renaissance. Born on March 6, 1475, in Caprese, Italy, Michelangelo was a notable sculptor, painter, architect and poet. His most emblematic works include "David", exhibited in Florence, and "Pietá", located in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.
This day celebrates the art of sculpture and recognizes the significant contribution of sculptors to the world's cultural heritage. In addition to Michelangelo, other notable sculptors who left a lasting legacy include:
Donatello: Italian Renaissance artist known for works such as "David" and "The Penitent Mary Magdalene."
