March 1st is Zero Discrimination
March 1st is Zero Discrimination Day and aims to promote equality, inclusion and the elimination of all forms of discrimination in the world. The date was created by UNAIDS (Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS), with the purpose of combating prejudice and intolerance, encouraging the construction of more just and egalitarian societies.
World Zero Discrimination Day aims to raise awareness about the damage caused by discrimination, whether racial, gender, religious, social, sexual or any other form of exclusion. The date promotes the idea that all people have the right to live without fear of being discriminated against, and that differences should be respected and celebrated as part of human diversity.
On March 1st, organizations, governments and social movements hold awareness campaigns, lectures, debates and events to encourage acceptance and respect for diversity in all aspects of daily life. The fight against discrimination is an ongoing effort that involves educating people, raising awareness in society and ensuring that public policies are adopted to combat discriminatory practices.
