February 27th is Textbook Day
February 27th is Textbook Day in Brazil, highlighting the importance of this essential tool for student education.
Textbooks are a key part of the educational process, bringing together the content necessary for the development of knowledge, from elementary school to higher education. They not only help students understand different subjects, but also guide teachers in the teaching process, providing a structured and clear basis.
Since 1985, Brazil has implemented the National Textbook Program (PNLD), which distributes these books free of charge to public school systems throughout the country. However, the history of textbooks in Brazil dates back to 1929, with the creation of the National Book Institute (INL), an agency responsible for regulating and supervising the sector in the country.
Celebrating National Textbook Day is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of this tool in Brazilian education and the need to guarantee access to quality materials for all students, promoting inclusion and excellence in teaching.
