November 18th is the Guardianship Counselor
November 18th is the Guardianship Counselor 's Day in Brazil. This date was created to honor and recognize the fundamental work of guardianship counselors in defending and guaranteeing the rights of children and adolescents, as provided for in the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA), enacted in 1990. Guardianship counselors are responsible for ensuring compliance with the rights of minors under 18 years of age, intervening in risky situations, such as neglect, violence or abuse. They work in partnership with other public agencies, such as the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Justice Department, to ensure protection and support for children and their families. The choice of November 18th is related to the need to value these professionals, who play an essential role in the rights protection system.
