November 16th, No Smoking
November 16th, No Smoking Day, aims to raise awareness about the harmful effects of smoking, a disease caused by dependence on nicotine found in products such as cigarettes, cigars and hookahs. Tobacco smoke contains more than 4,000 toxic substances, responsible for more than 50 diseases, including lung cancer, stroke, heart attacks and respiratory problems. The benefits of quitting smoking are rapid: in 20 minutes, blood pressure and heart rate normalize, and in one year, the risk of heart attack is reduced by half. Although cigars and e-cigarettes are often seen as alternatives, they also pose health risks. The date is essential to promote health and warn about the dangers of smoking, which causes around 8 million deaths annually, reinforcing the importance of quitting tobacco use.
