National Stenographer 's Day is celebrated on May 3rd
National Stenographer 's Day is celebrated on May 3rd as a way of honoring shorthand professionals, whose work is essential for quickly and accurately transcribing speeches, lectures and meetings. Shorthand, an abbreviated writing technique, allows stenographers to record spoken content in real time, being essential in environments such as courts, congresses and conferences. This date highlights the importance of these professionals in preserving and disseminating information, valuing their hard work and technical skill. The day was chosen by stenographers themselves in reference to the first Brazilian Shorthand Congress on May 3, 1951 and the official creation of Parliamentary Shorthand in Brazil on May 3, 1823.
