The Egyptians contributed significantly to medicine
The Egyptians contributed significantly to medicine through the practice of mummification. This embalming process not only preserved bodies after death, but also allowed for the study of human anatomy and the development of surgical techniques. Mummification was part of an important ritual, with the body being placed in wooden or gold sarcophagi and placed in a tomb, along with food and decorative objects. The funeral took place seventy days after death, being placed in elaborate tombs, such as mastabas, hypogeums and pyramids. This practice positively influenced medical progress in ancient Egyptian civilization... Did you know?
