The American Wirehair
The American Wirehair is a breed of cat that emerged from a spontaneous mutation in New York in 1966, with all specimens descending from a cat named Adam. Popular in the USA and Canada, it is little known in other countries and is not recognized for exhibitions in the UK. This breed is robust and presents few health problems, although studies on its genetic pathologies are lacking in the United Kingdom due to the small population. Its most distinctive feature is its dense, rough and frizzy coat, which resembles wire in texture. Each strand of hair is hard and resilient, giving the breed a unique appearance. American Wirehairs are known for being friendly, sociable and affectionate, making them good companions for children and other pets.
