The Caucasus Shepherd

The Caucasus Shepherd is a large breed of dog originating from the mountainous regions of the Caucasus, between Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Known for its grandeur and strength, this dog was historically used to protect flocks of sheep against predators such as wolves and bears. Physically, Caucasian Shepherd Dogs are robust and muscular, with a broad, powerful head. Its coat is dense and usually comes in colors such as white, fawn, brown or piebald. In addition to their intimidating appearance, they are intelligent, courageous and loyal to their owners and territory. Due to their protective instinct, Caucasian Shepherd Dogs need socialization and training from an early age to ensure they are trustworthy and well-behaved. They are excellent guard dogs, but can be challenging for inexperienced breeders due to their dominant and territorial nature.
