April 24 is Young Workers' Day
April 24 is Young Workers' Day, a date established by the International Labor Organization (ILO) to recognize the importance of young people's inclusion in the job market and to promote awareness of the challenges faced by this segment of the population.
The celebration aims to combat prejudices related to the hiring of professionals without experience, highlighting the potential of young people to contribute significantly to organizations. In addition, it seeks to promote public policies that guarantee decent and fair jobs for young people, including apprenticeship and professional training programs.
In Brazil, legislation protects young workers, allowing them to work from the age of 14 as apprentices and ensuring that work activities are compatible with the educational and personal development of adolescents. Organizations such as the Center for Business-School Integration (CIEE) and the Mudes Foundation offer internship and apprenticeship programs to facilitate young people's entry into the job market.
