Degollado Theater
Located in the heart of Guadalajara, the Degollado Theater It is one of the most important and impressive theaters in Mexico. Opened in 1866, the theater was named after Santos Degollado, a liberal politician and military man. Its construction, which took more than 20 years, stands out for its neoclassical style, with a grand façade adorned with Corinthian columns and a sculpted frieze representing Apollo and the Muses.
The interior is equally impressive, with a majestic ceiling fresco painted by Gerardo Suárez and Jacobo Gálvez, depicting scenes from Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy." The theater is the stage for operas, ballets, concerts and performances by the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as international festivals.
