Located on the Yucatan Peninsula, Chichen Itza Chichen Itza is one of the most visited and impressive archaeological sites in Mexico, recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Founded by the Mayans around the 5th century, the city was a prosperous religious, political and commercial center, playing a crucial role in the Mayan civilization until the 15th century.
The main attraction of Chichen Itza is the imposing Pyramid of Kukulcan, also known as El Castillo. At 24 meters high, the pyramid is a remarkable example of Mayan astronomy, as it is aligned with the equinoxes, when a visual effect of a serpent appears descending its main staircase. Other important landmarks include the Temple of the Warriors, the Observatory and the Sacred Cenote, where religious rituals were performed.
In addition to its impressive architecture, Chichen Itza offers a rich experience of Mayan culture, with artifacts, sculptures and an aura of mystery that attracts tourists from all over the world.
