Chapultepec Castle
Located in the heart of the Chapultepec Forest, the Chapultepec Castle It is one of the most important historical landmarks in Mexico City. Its origins date back to the pre-Hispanic period, when it was a sacred site for the Aztecs, known as “Chapulín Hill” (cricket). During the Spanish colonization, the site was transformed into a residence for the viceroys and, in the 19th century, it became an imperial palace for Emperor Maximilian of Habsburg, with a grand architectural design.
After the fall of the empire, the castle served as a presidential residence and, since 1944, it has been a museum dedicated to the history of Mexico. The National Museum of History, housed in the castle, displays a vast collection of artifacts, furniture and works of art that narrate the country's trajectory, from pre-Hispanic times to the 20th century.
The panoramic view of Mexico City is one of the castle's greatest attractions, offering an impressive view of the metropolis.
