March 21 Cluster Headache
March 21 Cluster Headache Day, with the aim of raising awareness among the population about this extremely painful and often unknown neurological condition. Cluster headache is considered one of the worst pains a human being can feel, being compared to the pain of childbirth or an intense kidney attack.
The disease is characterized by episodes of intense pain on one side of the head, usually around the eye, which can last from 15 minutes to three hours. These crises occur in cycles (or “clusters”) that can last weeks or months, followed by periods of remission. Despite its severity, diagnosis is often late, leading patients to face years of suffering without adequate treatment.
On this day, specialists and health institutions promote campaigns to increase knowledge about cluster headache, encouraging faster diagnoses and access to effective treatments. The goal is to improve the quality of life of patients and reduce the impact of the disease, which can be highly disabling.
