February 21st is Tour Guide Day
February 21st is Tour Guide Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the essential work of tour guides around the world. These professionals play a fundamental role in connecting tourists with the places they visit, offering knowledge, safety and an enriching experience during their travels.
Created by the International Federation of Tourist Guides (WFTGA), the day aims to value the importance of this work, which goes beyond simply guiding groups; it also involves transmitting stories, traditions and the cultural heritage of each destination, in addition to promoting respect and sustainability in tourism.
The date highlights the contribution of tour guides to the travel and tourism sector, especially at a time when local and authentic experiences are increasingly valued. In addition, International Tour Guide Day seeks to raise awareness of the need for education and continuing training for these professionals, who must always be up to date with safety standards, new technologies and tourism trends.
