January 13 day of Combat Depression
January 13 day of Combat Depression, with the objective of increasing awareness about depression, a mental disorder that affects millions of people all over the world. This reinforces the need to recognize the symptoms of the disease, seek appropriate treatment and offer support to affected people.
Depression is considered the main global cause of disability and one of the two largest contributors to the global burden of care. It is also accompanied by habitual changes in mood or temporary emotional responses to everyday problems, which can become a serious health problem, especially when of long duration and of moderate to severe intensity. This can significantly interfere with work, school and family activities, and, in extreme cases, can lead to suicide, which is the second leading cause of death among young people aged 15 to 25.
Among the characteristic symptoms of depression is a sad mood and discouragement, but under conditions it can also involve affective, ideational, instinctive and neurovegetative symptoms.
Raising awareness about the disorder and promoting supportive environments is fundamental to reducing the stigma associated with the disease and encouraging those who need it to seek help.
