December 27th day of Saint Fabiola
December 27th day of Saint Fabiola, was a Roman widow from the 4th century, known for her great charity and dedication to caring for the sick. She founded a hospital in Rome, one of the first in the city, where she personally cared for the sick and marginalized. Her life of service began after the death of her second husband, when she devoted herself to Christian asceticism and charitable work, renouncing riches and dedicating her fortune to helping the poor and sick. She is also known for her relationship with Saint Jerome, with whom she maintained correspondence. She spent time in Bethlehem, at the hospice run by Saint Paula, and continued her charitable efforts in Rome, including helping to build a hospice for pilgrims. She died on December 27, 399 or 400. She is remembered for her great charitable work, as one of the first Christian women to be significantly involved in medicine and caring for those in need.
