December 13th Horse Day
December 13th Horse Day, to recognize the economic, historical and cultural contributions of horses in the United States. Established in 2004, this day brings together enthusiasts and gentlemen across the country to honor the importance of horses in shaping American society. Horses, introduced to North America by Spanish explorers, played a vital role in economic development, contributing approximately $9.2 billion to the economy. They were essential for transportation, agriculture, and are still present in cultural activities such as rodeos. Although many view horses only as recreational animals today, they continue to be essential in agricultural and therapeutic settings, helping people with problems such as anxiety and PTSD.
