April 1st, April Fools' Day
April 1st, April Fools' Day, is known worldwide as a day of pranks and small hoaxes. The exact origin of this tradition is uncertain, but it is believed to date back to the 16th century in France. Until then, New Year's Day was celebrated at the end of March, with parties that lasted until the beginning of April. In 1582, with the adoption of the Gregorian calendar by King Charles IX, New Year's Day was officially moved to January 1st. However, as communication was limited, many people continued to celebrate New Year's Day at the beginning of April, while others, already aware of the change, began to make jokes and mock them, calling them "April fools". Over time, the tradition spread throughout Europe and reached other countries. In each place, April Fools' Day gained its own particularities, but the essence of the date, marked by pranks and invented stories, remained.
