December 11 day of Tango, and celebrates music and dance of Argentine origin. This is a tribute to the birth of two of the greatest icons of tango: Carlos Gardel, singer and composer, born on December 11, 1890, and Julio de Caro, renowned teacher and violinist, born on the same date in 1899. Both foram fundais for the diffusion and evolution of tango as a musical genre and form of expression. The official creation of Dia do Tango took place in 1977, proposed by Argentine Ben Molar, with the support of several Argentine cultural institutions. The tango, born at the end of the 19th century on the banks of the Rio da Prata, was influenced by the cultural mix of two European immigrants, Afro-Argentines and Creoles who lived in Buenos Aires and Montevideo.
