December 6th
December 6th is the Day of Men's Mobilization to End Violence against Women in Brazil. The date was established to raise awareness and engage men in the fight against all forms of violence against women, promoting respect and gender equality. This mobilization is part of the White Ribbon Campaign, which originated in the Montreal Massacre, which occurred on December 6th, 1989, in Canada, when an armed man invaded a school and murdered 14 women, motivated by hatred of feminism. In response, groups of Canadian men created the campaign as a way to take a stand against gender violence. In Brazil, the day was established in 2007, as an initiative to involve men in the fight against domestic violence and machismo, reinforcing the importance of raising male awareness on the subject.
