December 9th is Anti-Corruption
December 9th is Anti-Corruption Day, and was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2003. This date aims to promote global actions and efforts to combat corruption, one of the main barriers to economic development and social justice in many countries. The origin of the International Anti-Corruption Day is related to the signing of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, which took place in Merida, Mexico, in 2003. This international treaty establishes a legal framework for cooperation between countries in the fight against corruption, highlighting the importance of promoting integrity, transparency and accountability in public and private institutions. The main objectives of the International Anti-Corruption Day include: Awareness, Promotion of Integrity and Mobilization of Civil Society.
