December 7th is Cotton Candy
December 7th is Cotton Candy Day in the United States. This day celebrates the light, sugary treat that delights people of all ages at fairs, amusement parks, and other events. Known as "sugar floss" or "sugar cloud," cotton candy is made by heating and spinning sugar into thin strands that are then rolled up to create this famous treat. Formerly called spun sugar, cotton candy is a classic at parties and circuses. Its origins date back to the 18th century in Europe, where it was an expensive and difficult delicacy to produce. In 1897, dentist William Morrison and confectioner John C. Wharton invented a machine that made its production easier, making it popular at the 1904 World's Fair. The day is an opportunity for families and children to get together and enjoy this delicious treat, as well as reminisce about the magic of the holidays and the joy of eating a sweet treat that brings back nostalgic childhood memories.
