December 3rd, Chronic Allergy
December 3rd, Chronic Allergy Day, was created by the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness about chronic allergies, which affect millions of people and significantly impact quality of life. Chronic allergies arise due to an overreaction of the immune system to common substances, such as pollen and animal dander. Genetic factors and continuous exposure to allergens contribute to their development. The main symptoms include sneezing, itching, stuffy nose, coughing and shortness of breath, with asthma, rhinitis and sinusitis being the most common. Treatment involves the use of medications such as bronchodilators and antihistamines, in addition to avoiding exposure to allergens.
