November 29th, Jaguar
November 29th, Jaguar Day, established by Law No. 13,330 of 2016, to honor Panthera onca, one of the largest felines in South America, threatened with extinction due to habitat loss, hunting and conflicts with humans. The date aims to raise awareness among the population about the importance of the jaguar for biodiversity and the preservation of ecosystems, in addition to promoting its protection as a top predator, essential for environmental balance. In Brazil, the jaguar faces challenges such as the destruction of its habitat and illegal hunting, highlighting the need for conservation actions and the promotion of coexistence between humans and wildlife.
