November 9th is a day against fascism and anti-Semitism
November 9th is a day against fascism and anti-Semitism in several countries. The date was chosen in memory of Kristallnacht, an event that occurred in 1938 in Nazi Germany, when synagogues, shops and Jewish homes were vandalized and destroyed, resulting in the deaths of Jews and the imprisonment of around 30,000 people. This tragic episode marked the beginning of the intensification of the systematic persecution of Jews that culminated in the Holocaust. The date is promoted by organizations such as the European Network Against Racism (ENAR) and UNITED for Intercultural Action, and seeks not only to remember the victims of the Holocaust and other fascist regimes, but also to raise awareness of the dangers of racism, anti-Semitism and intolerance in the present day.
