The date was chosen in honor of the birth of Rodolfo LB de Andrade, one of the pioneers of prosthetic dentistry in Brazil. Andrade was instrumental in founding the Brazilian Association of Prosthetists (ABP), which aims to promote the profession, ensure quality and ethical standards, and defend the rights of prosthetists in the country.
