November 3, Kilo
November 3, Kilo Day, is an official date in Brazil, established by Law No. 12,642 on May 15, 2012. The proposal arose from Bill 2992/2004 and pays homage to sociologist Herbert de Souza, founder of the NGO Ação pela Cidadania, which was founded on this day in 1935. The NGO, created in 2003, promotes the "Christmas without Hunger" campaign, which inspired the institution of National Kilo Day. This date aims to highlight the importance of measuring food correctly and raising awareness about nutritional health, encouraging healthy eating habits and portion control. National Kilo Day also seeks to raise awareness among the population about how conscious food choices can improve quality of life and long-term health. It is important to note that this date should not be confused with World Kilo Day or National Kilo Campaign Day, celebrated on July 31.
